My hat is off

Here’s to the people who have succeeded in getting under my skin

My hat is off

Here’s to the people who have managed to get their own way, even if it’s wrong

My hat is off

To all the selfish bastards who think the world owes them a living

My hat is off

To myself in spite of all this, in all this time I have not resorted to drowning my sorrows and saying hell to it all

My hat is off

To my love, who has absorbed some of my negative energy And converted it to positive thinking

So please, please all of you

My hat is off

Absolute truth has only one meaning. To see, hear, feel and touch life for what it really is. What is life? In my eyes absolution is only the true life.

The poems I’ve expressed in this book are all based on true life experiences. Living a life of substance abuse is no life at all. Since I’ve found the path to sobriety I’ve seen truths that I otherwise would not have known existed.

What I try to portray in this book is one man’s struggle for a sane and sober life. When you read Empty Blue (one of my personal favorites), you will understand what it’s like to see an image of your dark side, but remember; To every negative there is a positive. I am living proof there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

If through my writings I can reach, help or enlighten just one other person then I will have accomplished what I set out to do. My hope would be that I could share with the world the joy and happiness that I have found in sobriety. The rewards can be truly fulfilling.

Let me put this question to you. If you came into this world fully matured or even if you were to die tomorrow, wouldn’t you want to grab on to any and everything you could? I was given that chance and life was what I grabbed. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I.

Dedication

I love to hear music. The thought of putting ordinary words to music is poetry at it’s finest. I got to thinking, if you put your heart, soul and emotion into anything you write isn’t that considered poetry?

I must thank my wife for being so supportive and patient with me through all the years and trials and tribulations of learning how to live a sober life. My wonderful Mother, God rest her soul. Even through the really bad years in my life, my mother was there just to remind me that there was someone who would support me no matter what.

If you are a recovering alcoholic, I recommend finding the few or one true person who loves you with no conditions. This person will feel your pain and suffering and live it with you. They will hold you and give you strength. They will ask nothing of you. They will be key in your life forever.
